Partying - Part 2

Family Matters Picture

Family Matters is designed to be a spring board of discussion and encouragement for the entire family. Our topics come from a parent survey assessing the areas of “Wisdom, Stature, Favor with God and Man” as seen in Luke 2:52. Our approach is to be biblical and relevant in these four areas to strengthen family values, communications and respect. We choose the topic of “partying” to arrive in May just before the celebration of graduations and the beginning of summer.

“Party Animal, Party Magnet and Party Machine” all conjure up a wild college guy or a “girls gone wild” image. This is not the long term reputation that you want as this is the time of year people write in school yearbooks “never change” or “stay the same.” Celebration is totally biblical. The angels celebrate when a sinner repents (Luke 15:6-10); Jesus said “I came that you may have life to the fullest” (John 10:10; 15:11). King David may have been called a “party guy” as he worshipped the Lord but is remembered as a “man after God’s heart.”

Where’s the source of your joy, celebration and affection? Is it temporal, surface and random? Does it come from the FREEDOM that Christ brings in a relationship that experiences forgiveness, openness and places others needs ahead of your own? Here at T bar M Camps we absolutely party with the “joy of the Lord” for new friendships, accomplishments achieved … we laugh a lot, clap, sing, yes even dance, but it is motivated out of God’s grace. We want every camper and staff to know that they are God’s beloved and that they’ve got their own L252 story (see above Luke 2:52) to tell.

In this upcoming party season do talk about the environment that you will be in at graduation. Before this summer, decide now, anticipating being placed in a party compromising situation, what your purpose will be. Plan ahead what kind of impact you will bring. Camp is just days away and the 29 years of Christ-centered Adventure is ready for you and your family. Hurry up and get to Camp – the party is ready!
