Time is such a precious commodity and it waits on no one, yet you can become its master. Time has a way of marching on and it is always in motion – so what’s all the commotion with time management? The way you spend your time reflects your values.
Sure we all have to put in work hours, yet there are a lot of hours each week that slip away. Are you in control of your schedule? Choose to recapture priceless weekly hours by writing down the things that really matter to you then commit to protect those treasured jewels. Maybe you’d like to have more time to volunteer in a school reading program, exercise or pick up a new hobby (yeah right … I don’t have the time).
Make a list and choose five things that you want to accomplish this week. Now take a look at your day – today (yes, today). What three things must you get done? Prioritizing your day and week takes command of your time and puts you in control. Here are some basic scriptures- Matthew 6:33 reminds us to seek first the Kingdom of God and He will respond, and Ephesians 5:16, 17 tells us to make the most of our time and be wise.
Camp is a week out of the year that is very structured with cabin clean up, Bible study, exhilarating activities, rest, nourishment, praise and worship and reflection-- all of which make a full day. We have learned that campers both need and like structure because of the direction and security it provides – so why not at home? Sit down and talk it through and take charge of your gift of time instead of it taking charge of you.
