Football, volleyball, cross country, soccer, and band practice are in full swing as summer wraps up and school starts up. “Attitude is everything” coaches teach and preach. Sure ability makes a difference, but attitude affects a player, team and community like nothing else. You may not always win the game/competition, but if you play with a lot of heart and put forth your best effort more than likely you will walk away feeling good about your endeavor.
However, participate with or alongside someone with a negative attitude and you’ll be a loser in all respects: Respect of the game, team, fellow competitors and even yourself. Negativity isn’t pretty; in fact it stinks because it spoils everything around it. It’s like a cancer that spreads, eating away the good of the effort.
Camp is not the place for negative attitudes, criticism, whining or complaining. Rather, it is a place of higher living and expectations resulting in lifting others up and rallying the best in any situation / circumstance…UNITAS!!
Philippians 2:5-10 reminds us to have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus. Jesus’ attitude is the epitome of humility. Attitude is a choice… attitude is contagious… attitude is an expression of our character. Character counts! Good attitudes add, sarcasm separates and mediocrity multiplies – you do the math.
