What are We Worth? - Part 2

How much are we worth? According to “Answers.com” our body and all that it represents is valued at more than $45 million –that was from a 2003 research report.  Sure, that’s impressive, but before we consider cashing in on some body parts consider our eternal worth.

Do we live daily with our end in mind? Eternal perspective sure changes our paradigm. Value is temporal and it changes moment by moment just look at the price of gas, produce, stocks – we get the picture. What things are we doing, sharing, investing in, and serving that will last? Will what we're doing today make a difference for tomorrow? What are we storing up in heaven before us (Matthew 6:19 – 24)?

Really think about it.  What in my life reflects that I’m living with an eternal perspective?!

As parents, what are our words and looks conveying about worth and value to our children? They need to know, hear, see and feel worth, not through excessive material stuff, rather through our eyes, from our verbal affirmations and appropriate touch. If we don’t … they’ll find it from someone / somewhere else.

Let's not be too busy not to be fully there, engaged and aware (without suffocating them). They need us. We need them. God designed us that way. He uses not only His Word and His Son’s sacrifice to demonstrate such worth, but He equipped parents with God given innate value sensors to awaken our offspring.  How are we doing in communicating and validating worth in our children?

Yo dawgs, whasup? Sounds a bit trendy but GET THIS: you are no dog – you are fearfully and wonderfully made … read it for yourself in Psalm 139.  Really absorb it.  Read it three times (count 'em … 1,2,3). I know we like to dawg friends with sarcasm, jokes, teasing, but have you ever really considered giving words of life, value, worth to build up one another? Try it!  It will come RIGHTBACKATCHA and it feels good. It can change a life course for another.
