It’s Thursday, one week to Turkey Day … an extended weekend of football, food and family (hey, not necessarily in that order). I’d like to adapt the age old story of a young eagle growing up with chickens but, in the spirit of the holidays, instead of chickens let’s use turkeys. The young eagle imitated his turkey family and friends with his walk, talk, thought, even eating like his turkey family. Until one day while soaring in the sky he discovered his purpose and who he really was; then he himself began to soar and live as the king of all fowl.
We can all become grounded, confused by our surroundings and those we hang around never realizing who we really are and what we are to become. Mom / Dad this is one of our top duties as a parent to nurture our God-given treasures into the young men and women that He has created them to be. Martin Luther King’s resounding, “Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, I’m free at last!” totally fits in our correct biblical vision and mission.
Dudley led your thoughts to the contrast of our depravity and God’s dignity. Know that Christ's dignity covers our depravity in our daily actions and reactions as we act upon God’s Word.
We must anchor our family’s faith in God’s Word and our children’s tether will hold strong keeping them connected as they develop Christ-like character. As Christ-followers we have a grace-driven motivation to impact our world as together we Love God and Love Others living out His forgiveness and grace.
Bottom line: know that our position in Christ is that we are considered holy and blameless, yet often in our daily practices (behaviors) we don’t match up to our spiritual position. Therefore, remember “who you are” and “whose your are” for you have been bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:19, 20).
