“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever,” 1 John 2:15-17.
“Let no one say when he is tempted, ‘I am being tempted by God’; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death,” James 1:13-15.
Lust is not a cultural issue or excuse, it is sin. Culturally, we have become comfortable and compliant. We even justify our fleshly longings of lust, coveting, by attempting to soften its intent and impact. Biblical alignment directs our hearts, feelings and desires to the facts of God’s love through His mercy and grace.
We need to call sin, what it is … SIN. God hates it and is against it. Jesus paid a high price so that it will not be master over us. You and I have a Redeemer Who has defeated sin and gives us freedom - freedom to walk away, stand against and be an over comer by crushing sin’s ugly head.
Now, Family Matters family, this is no sermon, but it is truth. We are not alone. We have an Advocate. We have power over the domain of sin. It is the daily dependence of a Christ-follower that experiences such victory and freedom.

Amen, JP! You're right that we need to "get a grip on Biblical Truth." The Bible has some radical things to say about the believer's relationship to sin, some things that many of us may not even actually have truly claimed as true...I'm thinking about scripture's proclamation that we are no longer slaves to sin but slaves to righteousness; that I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer lives but Christ lives in me. I've gotta "get a grip" on these truths, appropriate them, claim them as true! Though we still struggle with sin, if we are in Christ, we are no longer enslaved to sin...
