Parenting ought to be listed among the X-games of life. Think of the epic battle scenes, the marathon “what should we do?!” discussions, the emotional bobsled course that whips your heart around at breakneck speeds.
So I’d like to pass along some resources to you that Laura and I find useful in our efforts to maintain a godly perspective as we parent our kids. We hope you will find them useful as well. Ready, set, GO!
If you still have young children at home, take a look at SmartParents blog . This is an online resource written by Jason Reynolds, a wonderful pediatrician who we know personally – This resource covers many parenting issues related to health and wellness.
Focus on the Family not only has wonderful books, radio and TV programs, they also host one of the best parenting knowledge centers on the internet. Go to this page and type a topic into the search field. You’ll be blessed by the godly perspectives and resources that you find.
Wondering if you should let your kids watch that movie? Go to www.parentpreviews.com to find excellent reviews and information about most movies that exist. This site will tell you about inappropriate language, adult situations, and adult themes. It offers enough insights that you will be able to have excellent conversations with your son or daughter when the movie ends.
Healthy parenting flows from healthy moms and dads. If you’re looking for a wonderful source of blessing as a Christian mom, try Beth Moore’s blog . Laura enjoys it, and she receives a daily email encouragement from one of the most prolific devotional writers of our time.
What about the men? I get Daily Readings written by John Eldridge. They are inspiring and challenging words that come in bite sized pieces. Perfect for men on the go.
What about you? If you have a resource that helps you maintain balance or sanity, post a message and share it with our Family Matters audience. Extreme parenting is a team sport, and we need each other!
p.s.The first campers of the summer arrived just yesterday! We are "Ready To Go" (2 Tim 4:2) & beyond excited at the privilege of sharing Christ with kids!
