Boldly Sharing Our Faith - Part 2

Often times it is easier to share the good news about Jesus Christ while on a mission trip in another country.   We are willing to go to plazas, door to door, schools, ball fields and are quick to boldly share our faith but when we return home that boldness often slips away. Hmmm, any ideas why? Been there, done that?

In sharing your faith, choose word pictures that include courage, confidence, bravery, valor and fearlessness. 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and discipline.”  1 John 4:7-21 talks about bold love in action including verse 18, “there is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.” So the motivation for our boldness to love others comes from God. Love originates from God and is clearly demonstrated by Him. Do we love Him enough to be bold about our faith? Do we love others enough to be bold about our faith?

When it comes to being bold … DO NOT lack modesty or be impolitely assertive. DO BE eager to valiantly face any opportunity to share your faith. It is true that actions speak louder than words. Putting your faith into action, with genuine concern for others, will be a bold, daring and caring act of love. Be fearless and adventurous in sharing your faith.

Certainly, be intentional and prayerful in your boldness. Just as we BOLD some of our written words, let’s be BOLD with our everyday acquaintances intentionally looking for opportunities to share His love. Be careful not to preach, rather lovingly demonstrate your faith both in words and deeds.

I recently returned from the Holy Land where there are very passionate and devoted peoples of many faiths and denominations. They are bold in their prayers, dress and intensity of their beliefs. I have been to both probable sites of Christ’s crucifixion and burial tomb – here’s the BOLD TRUTHHE is not there … they are both empty and vacated. This provides us genuine assurance and promise as we boldly share our faith with confidence.

Boldness is appropriate when we back it up with sincerity and authenticity. Build appropriate relationships with those around you and respect their boundaries. Do not assume that others know and have heard the good news of Jesus Christ taking on their sins, shame and guilt so that they may live in forgiveness, grace and freedom.     Step up and speak up with God’s love through His power, wisdom and strength. They will be eternally grateful that you did. Be the real deal.
